Just got back from Palm Desert to clean up the condo before the tenant move in. I went by myself, for Ellick left for Grand Canyon, shooting pictures. Left yesterday afternoon, took me three hours to get there, due to traffic jam. The place was flooded last month, due to a water leakage. Ellick went right after and air- dried the carpet, but didn't clean up the water stain on carpet and walls. Made appointment with the carpet cleaning people the day before, who showed up yesterday only to tell me that he couldn't do a thing about the stain. Paid him 75.00 and let him go after he symbolically wet the spots with his machine.
Bought spot cleaner from Lowe's , got on my hands and knees, scrubbed for an hour, and finally removed 90 % of the stain. Also bought a can of paint to match the wall color and painted over the stained walls. Worked until 10:00PM , went out to look at the stars, which seemed brighter in Palm Desert, thanks to the unpolluted air. Read Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake. (a very good futuristic book, by the way) Went to bed at 12:00.

This morning, I continued to touch up the walls with the paint until they looked fresh and clean. Then I dusted the furniture and vacuumed the floor. Everything went smoothly until I accidentally hit the garage door glider with my trunk hood. (I forgot to close my trunk when I backed up from the garage.) I manually closed the door, which suddenly dropped on my back. Had I not dodge swiftly, I could have been crashed. Nonetheless, I did get some bluish bruises on my back. Come to think of it, I'm probably too old to do all those labor - intensive work. I'll hire a handyman next time.

My fiction/memoir class started last Wednesday. It was a huge class with 22 students. The teacher might divide us up and add another section on Monday.
The majority of the students are interested in fiction only, except for a couple of senior citizens (not me) who'd like to learn the essentials of memoir writing . Need to turn in an assignment by Monday, and I don't even have the faintest idea in my head as far as subject matter.

Good to be home with my two loving cats.
