第三天，有一人從掃羅的營裏出來，衣服撕裂，頭蒙灰塵，到大衛面前伏地叩拜。 [NASB] On the third day, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul, with his clothes torn and dust on his head. And it came about when he came to David that he fell to the ground and prostrated himself.

大衛問他說：「你從那裏來？」他說：「我從以色列的營裏逃來。」 [NASB] Then David said to him, "From where do you come?" And he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel."
1:4
大衛又問他說：「事情怎樣？請你告訴我。」他回答說：「百姓從陣上逃跑，也有許多人仆倒死亡；掃羅和他兒子約拿單也死了。」 [NASB] David said to him, "How did things go? Please tell me." And he said, "The people have fled from the battle, and also many of the people have fallen and are dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also."

大衛問報信的少年人說：「你怎麼知道掃羅和他兒子約拿單死了呢？」 [NASB] So David said to the young man who told him, "How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?"

報信的少年人說：「我偶然到基利波山，看見掃羅伏在自己槍上，有戰車、馬兵緊緊地追他。 [NASB] The young man who told him said, "By chance I happened to be on Mount Gilboa, and behold, Saul was leaning on his spear. And behold, the chariots and the horsemen pursued him closely.

他回頭看見我，就呼叫我。我說：『我在這裏。』 [NASB] "When he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me. And I said, 'Here I am.'
1:8
他問我說：『你是甚麼人？』我說：『我是亞瑪力人。』 [NASB] "He said to me, 'Who are you?' And I answered him, 'I am an Amalekite.'
1:9
他說：『請你來，將我殺死；因為痛苦抓住我，我的生命尚存。』 [NASB] "Then he said to me, 'Please stand beside me and kill me, for agony has seized me because my life still lingers in me.'
1:10
我準知他仆倒必不能活，就去將他殺死，把他頭上的冠冕、臂上的鐲子拿到我主這裏。」 [NASB] "So I stood beside him and killed him, because I knew that he could not live after he had fallen. And I took the crown which {was} on his head and the bracelet which {was} on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord."
1:11
大衛就撕裂衣服，跟隨他的人也是如此， [NASB] Then David took hold of his clothes and tore them, and {so} also {did} all the men who {were} with him.
1:12
而且悲哀哭號，禁食到晚上，是因掃羅和他兒子約拿單，並耶和華的民以色列家的人，倒在刀下。 [NASB] They mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and his son Jonathan and for the people of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

大衛問報信的少年人說：「你是那裏的人？」他說：「我是亞瑪力客人的兒子。」 [NASB] David said to the young man who told him, "Where are you from?" And he answered, "I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite."
1:14
大衛說：「你伸手殺害耶和華的受膏者，怎麼不畏懼呢？」 [NASB] Then David said to him, "How is it you were not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?"
1:15
大衛叫了一個少年人來，說：「你去殺他吧！」 [NASB] And David called one of the young men and said, "Go, cut him down." So he struck him and he died.
1:16
大衛對他說：「你流人血的罪歸到自己的頭上，因為你親口作見證說：『我殺了耶和華的受膏者。』」少年人就把他殺了。 [NASB] David said to him, "Your blood is on your head, for your mouth has testified against you, saying, 'I have killed the LORD'S anointed.'"
大衛為掃羅和約拿單作哀歌

大衛作哀歌，弔掃羅和他兒子約拿單， [NASB] Then David chanted with this lament over Saul and Jonathan his son,

且吩咐將這歌教導猶大人。這歌名叫「弓歌」，寫在雅煞珥書上。 [NASB] and he told {them} to teach the sons of Judah {the song of} the bow; behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.
1:19
歌中說：以色列啊，你尊榮者在山上被殺！大英雄何竟死亡！ [NASB] "Your beauty, O Israel, is slain on your high places! How have the mighty fallen!
1:20
不要在迦特報告；不要在亞實基倫街上傳揚；免得非利士的女子歡樂；免得未受割禮之人的女子矜誇。 [NASB] "Tell {it} not in Gath, Proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, Or the daughters of the Philistines will rejoice, The daughters of the uncircumcised will exult.
1:21
基利波山哪，願你那裏沒有雨露！願你田地無土產可作供物！因為英雄的盾牌在那裏被污丟棄；掃羅的盾牌彷彿未曾抹油。 [NASB] "O mountains of Gilboa, Let not dew or rain be on you, nor fields of offerings; For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
1:22
約拿單的弓箭非流敵人的血不退縮；掃羅的刀劍非剖勇士的油不收回。 [NASB] "From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, The bow of Jonathan did not turn back, And the sword of Saul did not return empty.
1:23
掃羅和約拿單活時相悅相愛，死時也不分離他們比鷹更快，比獅子還強。 [NASB] "Saul and Jonathan, beloved and pleasant in their life, And in their death they were not parted; They were swifter than eagles, They were stronger than lions.
1:24
以色列的女子啊，當為掃羅哭號！他曾使你們穿朱紅色的美衣，使你們衣服有黃金的妝飾。 [NASB] "O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, Who clothed you luxuriously in scarlet, Who put ornaments of gold on your apparel.

英雄何竟在陣上仆倒！約拿單何竟在山上被殺！ [NASB] "How have the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain on your high places.

我兄約拿單哪，我為你悲傷！我甚喜悅你！你向我發的愛情奇妙非常，過於婦女的愛情。 [NASB] "I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was more wonderful Than the love of women.

英雄何竟仆倒！戰具何竟滅沒！ [NASB] "How have the mighty fallen, And the weapons of war perished!"
