Chinese viewers have a voracious appetite for Western television series, with demand soaring as more and more young people turn towards online video and away from domestic TV offerings they consider lacklustre.

But official censors abruptly took four hit US TV series offline, including the hugely popular "Big Bang Theory", which had garnered more than 1.3 billion views on the Sohu online video site since 2009.

Observers say the crackdown is less a matter of inappropriate content than a move by Communist authorities to assert their control over a newly flourishing domain.

"These American online TV shows, this is the year when they reached a point of popularity at which the regulators started to take a look at them and do what they usually do, which is stamp out and regulate," said Jeremy Goldkorn, founder of Danwei, a Beijing-based firm that tracks Chinese media and the Internet. "It sort of feels like this is a first step," he added. "What will be next is unlikely to be liberal."

You might be a redneck if you don’t object to a rural upstate New York town’s theme for its annual Fourth of July parade.

倘若你不反對紐約州北部某個鄉下小鎮的年度7月4日遊行主題，你大概就是個鄉巴佬。

But some people around Salem aren’t amused by parade organizers’ decision to go with "Redneck Summer" for this year’s theme.

撒冷鎮的遊行主辦單位決定以「鄉巴佬之夏」為今年的主題，但某些鎮民並不覺得這很有趣。

The volunteer fire department stages the annual holiday parade in Salem, a farming community located on the Vermont border 40 miles northeast of Albany.

Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash blasted the All England Club, saying they were being over-zealous with the all-white dress code which he claims has forced some women players to even change their bras. "It has absolutely gone ridiculous," the Australian said.

The hot question of whether dinosaurs were warm-blooded like birds and mammals or cold blooded like reptiles, fish and amphibians finally has a good answer. Dinosaurs were in fact somewhere in between.

恐龍是否像鳥或哺乳類是溫血的，還是像爬蟲類、魚與兩棲類是冷血的熱門問題，最終有了好答案。事實上，恐龍是介於兩者之間。

The study, published in the journal Science, assessed 21 species of dinosaurs including super predators Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus, long-necked Apatosaurus, duckbilled Tenontosaurus and bird-like Troodon as well as a range of mammals, birds, bony fish, sharks, lizards, snakes and crocodiles.

University of New Mexico biologist John Grady said the idea that creatures must be either warm-blooded or cold-blooded is too simplistic when looking over the vast expanse of time. Oil painting certified as early work by Dali 油畫證實是達利早期作品

An oil painting sold at a Spanish antique shop over two decades ago for around 150 euros has been certified as Salvador Dali’s first Surrealist work which he painted as a teenager, art experts said Thursday.

西班牙古董店20年前以約150歐元售出的一幅油畫，經證實為達利在青少年繪製的第一幅超現實主義作品，專家週四表示。

Tomeu L’Amo, a painter and art historian, found the canvas at a store in Girona in northeastern Spain in 1988.

畫家兼藝術史家拉莫表示，他在1988年於西班牙東北部的吉諾納一家商店找到這幅畫。

It was dismissed for years as the work of an unknown artist because the signature includes the date 1896 -- eight years before Dali was born.

這幅畫有數年都被認為是無名藝術家的作品，因為簽名中包含1896日期，早於達利誕生年8年。

But after subjecting the painting to the latest high-tech tests -- including infrared photography, X-rays and ultraviolet radiation -- between 2004 and 2013 art experts have concluded that it is indeed the work of Dali and was made around 1921 when he was 17-years-old.

L’Amo said he sold the work earlier this month for an amount which he refused to reveal to a collector who wishes to remain anonymous.

Jolie was in town to promote her new film along with husband Brad Pitt when she decided to acknowledge the elephant in the room.

The Wumao Hordes assembled in force to condemn Jolie as a hardened supporter of Tibetan independence, but owing to internet censorship they were unable to name the very idea they so detest, and were forced instead allude to Tibetan independence as simply "zd" （zangdu）.

The big-screen Godzilla that scared and thrilled viewers in 1954 was an actor in a rubber suit with a zipper up its back. And many Japanese fans still prefer that monster over a Hollywood version made in terrifying, full 3-D computer-graphics glory.

1954年在大螢幕上嚇壞觀眾的怪獸哥吉拉，其實是由真人穿著背後有拉鏈的橡皮怪獸裝所扮演。許多日本影迷至今仍偏愛這種拉鏈裝怪獸，而非好萊塢所拍攝的3D電腦動畫版本。

"American Godzilla is just a giant iguana freaking out," says Mudai Nozaki, 30, who believes Godzilla is Japan’s greatest contribution to cinematic history next to "Seven Samurai" and "Kagemusha" director Akira Kurosawa.

A Pakistani court on Saturday threw out charges of attempted murder against a nine-month-old baby, in a case that highlighted endemic flaws in the country’s legal system and provoked widespread ridicule.

一個巴基斯坦法院週六撤銷對九個月大嬰兒涉嫌企圖謀殺的起訴，本案凸顯該國法律制度的特有缺失，也招來廣泛奚落。

The court also launched a separate case to look into how police pressed charges against baby Mohammad Musa after his family clashed with gas company officials in a working class neighborhood in the eastern city of Lahore.

The case drew international attention and sparked ridicule against the Pakistani criminal justice system, after the toddler was photographed crying desperately while being fingerprinted in court. His grandfather was later seen trying to comfort him with a milk bottle.

Italian researchers are worried that Michelangelo’s statue of David may be in danger of collapsing due to weakened ankles.

Experts have long been concerned that the marble statue, which is roughly 500 years old and has long stood as one of history’s most triumphant achievements in art, may have suffered structural damage, the U.K.’s Telegraph explains.

專家一直很擔心這尊有約500年歷史被視為史上最成功藝術成就的大理石雕像，可能有結構性損傷，英國「電訊報」如此解說。

How so? Thousands of people visit the statue every day and over the course of hundreds of years, their footsteps combined with the rumble of nearby traffic have apparently taken a toll on the statue, experts from Italy’s National Research Council and Florence University found.

The anti-Semitic German leader responsible for the Holocaust married his long-term lover Braun shortly before they committed suicide in a Berlin bunker in 1945.
