Two Poems

來源:http://www.englishfree.com.cn/tw/nTraining/ReadLesson.asp?Lesson=MD207

Sympathy, the sharing of another's sorrow or trouble, means a lot in our daily life.

In the first poem the writer tells us of her belief in this truth in simple words and phrases.

In the second poem the poet expresses his pity for a rabbit caught in a snare, and pictures the poor terrified figure of the animal.

In both poems you will find the rhythm and rhyme well-organized.

1  If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking

If I can stop one heart from breaking,I shall not live in vain;

如果我能使人免於心碎,則此生不虛度;

If I can ease one life the aching,Or cool one pain,Or help one fainting robinUnto his nest again,I shall not live in vain.

2  The Snare

The Snare

I hear a sudden cry of pain!There is a rabbit in a snare;Now I hear the cry again,But I cannot tell from where.

But I cannot tell from whereHe is calling out for aid;Crying on the frightened air,Making everything afraid.

Making everything afraidWrinkling up his little face,As he cries again for aid;And I cannot find the place!

And I cannot find the placeWhere his paw is in the snare;Little one! Oh, little one!I am searching everywhere.
