(1) 原句應為「ㄧ位專家來評估我的骨董價值」的中文直譯，是典型的中式英文。appraise 字義當中就蘊含了「價」(value) 的概念，相當於 evaluate，既然是幫骨董「估價」或「鑑價」，就不需畫蛇添足再將骨董的「價值」(the value of my antiques) 寫出來。

(2) 以 Merriam-Webster 的例句做說明如下：

a. She appraised the painting at $1.2 million.

（她鑑定這幅畫價值120萬美元。）

She appraised the value of the painting at $1.2 million.（Ｘ）

b. The ring must be appraised by a jeweler before it can be insured.
