The micro-blogging site added a tweet details page to the Android app, which is accessible simply by clicking on a tweet. The feature, which is already available for the iPhone, iPad, and Windows Phone, makes it easier to click on links, reply, re-tweet, or favorite a tweet.
The updated app also boasts speedier access. "In this version, we've tried a new way of drawing a timeline of Tweets that optimizes for scrolling speed. Try it out, and you'll see how much faster and smoother the timeline loads and scrolls," Twitter wrote in a blog post.
The Android app also now includes "pull to refresh," which is already available on the iPhone. To get new tweets, simply pull down on the top of the timeline, and the app will load the most recent updates. Twitter also added "swipe to reveal," which provides quick access to things like a user's profile, sharing a tweet, or replying, simply by swiping on the tweet. Clicking the re-tweet icon also now provides the option to quote a tweet. Twitter also promised high-resolution avatar photos.
The app is available now in the Android Market for phones running Android 2.1 or higher.
