Mahishasura

The Goddess Durga’s fight with the buffalo headed demon king Mahishasura, an episode called from the celebrated Sanskrit poem Devi Mahatmya.
A lot of shots are done on this place in one of the eight Mandapams or small cave temples behind the big rock relief , but here I wanted to include the pillar for the sitting lion as a mark of the dynasty of the Pallava I kings (mid-seventh century), later dynasties are marked by a standing and a jumping lion.
