Hello everyone.

In regards to crime in our immediate area, on the LAPD crime map, there was a theft from a vehilce and a burglary of a structure/home between Woodley and Haskell and Devonshire and Lassen. So far, no incidents are showing on the map for our large block area. You can find these crime maps on http://www.lapdonline.org/. If you're interested.

On Sunday night, I heard a house or structure alarm go off. I could hear it from my house around 12:40 AM. I called police, but it was still going off when I got up the next morning? Not sure what happened with that.

I noticed last week a caucasian male, slender build, yellow tank sports shirt with red two didgit number on the back. He parked on Swinton near Kinzie, ran across the street and continued up to Superior and onto Woodley. I'm not sure why he chose to park where he did, a neighbor noted the plate number in case anything came about.

There was an incident not around here where a man pulled up to a stop light and a woman in her 30's was crying in the cross walk, the man asked if she was okay and the next thing, both the woman and man are robbing him. Please be careful when you are trying to be a good samaritan. Look in your mirrors and always keep alert to what's around you even when walking. Victims are fall prey to their heads being buried in their cell phones.

Its been reported by a neighbor that there is someone living in the bank owned house on Woodley, three houses south of Kinzie. The police were notified and they should be out now. Devonshire division escorts these people out of abandonded homes and has no toelerance for squatters. They are considered tresspassing and will be arrested if they don't leave. If you know of an abandoned home owned by the bank, not including for sale houses, please watch for lights, trash, etc. Tell the police immediately if you notice anything suspicious. Vacant abandoned homes attract druggies. Once a house is marked as a drug house, 8 times out of 10, when the house is sold the druggies come back looking for drugs not found in back of toilets etc.

Heritage school lights, the neighborhood council meeting was postponed and I have not received notice of a new date. I will keep you informed. For those of you who are not familiar with what is going on, Heritage School on the corner of Woodley and Lassen is a great school mind you, but they want to put up huge blaring lights in their foot ball field stadium. They have already put up lights illegally for their batting cages. The football lights will bring in other schools to our neighborhood, meaning traffic, trash, rowdiness, temptation, etc. There are some of us who are against the lights being installed.

Neighborhood watch signs, I have scoured the neighborhood for good places for signage as well as inquiring to those who want them in other immediate neighborhood areas. I am just waiting for word to get started. I will keep you informed.

That's about it in a nutshell. Remember to keep your garage doors locked, don't leave anything tempting in plain view in your vehicles - Walkers & Bicyclists ride by your cars all the time looking into the windows for something that will make a quick $5 drug hit for them.

Thanks

Diane
