（法新社芝加哥28日電）波音飛機公司（Boeing）今天報告去年第四季虧損5600萬美元；這家航太巨擘也宣布，今年將裁減1萬名員工。

這項虧損大體上起因於機械工罷工，以及重新設計747貨機的成本。波音說，它必須勒緊褲帶，以因應全球困難的經濟局勢。

波音執行長麥納尼（Jim McNerney）說：「全球經濟持續衰疲，衝擊到航空交通與融資。」

他指出，1萬名員工的裁減將經由「縮編、退休和裁員」來達成。

Boeing to slash 10,000 jobs this year

NEW YORK (AFP) – Boeing will reduce its workforce by some 10,000 this year in response to the global economic crisis, chief executive Jim McNerney said Wednesday.

"The global economy continues to weaken, and it's affecting air traffic and financing," McNerney said after the aerospace giant released its quarterly results.

"We must prepare the company, including being more aggressive in terms of productivity."

He said the 10,000 cuts would be made "through attrition, retirement and layoffs," and included a figure announced earlier of 4,500 in the commercial aircraft division.

波音公司民航機部門執行長卡森（Scott Carson）說：「我們採取審慎行動，以確保波音公司在目前艱困環境下仍然穩健。」

波音公司發表聲明說，民航機部門人力「2009年預計精簡大約4500名，這是公司面對全球經濟不景氣，努力維持競爭力與控制成本的一部分」。

波音公司說，這項企業瘦身行動將使得旗下民航機部門人力減少至大約6萬3500人，約相當於2008年初的水準。

卡森說：「我們對受裁員行動影響的人感到遺憾。」他又說，這項行動將使得公司有能力因應市場不確定性、回應對客戶的承諾、繼續投資和維持競爭力。

波音公司也說，民航機部門已開始執行一項撙節成本和削減任意支出計劃。

WASHINGTON (AFP) – US aerospace giant Boeing said Friday it would cut about 4,500 jobs beginning next month amid a weakening global economy.

"We are taking prudent actions to make sure Boeing remains well-positioned in today's difficult economic environment," said Scott Carson, chief executive of Boeing's Seattle-based Commercial Airplanes business unit.

Employment at Commercial Airplanes was "expected to decline by approximately 4,500 positions in 2009 as part of an effort to ensure competitiveness and control costs in the face of a weakening global economy," the company said in a statement.

The job cuts will bring the unit's workforce to about 63,500, similar to the level it was at the start of 2008, the company said.

"We regret the disruption to those affected by this decision," Carson said, adding that the move would enable it to adapt to market uncertainties, meet customer commitments, continue investments and protect competitiveness.

Boeing also said the Commercial Airplanes unit had begun a program to reduce overhead costs and discretionary spending.

"Although normal attrition and a reduction in contract labor will account for some of the job reductions, layoffs of Boeing employees also are necessary," the statement said.

Many of the job cuts will be in overhead functions and other areas not directly associated with airplane production.

Most of the reductions are expected to occur in Washington state in the second quarter of the year, with affected employees to receive 60-day notices beginning in late February, Boeing said.

Laid-off employees will receive benefits and "career-transition" services, Boeing said.

Commercial Airplanes began 2008 employing more than 63,000 people, including contract labor, and increased employment to nearly 68,000 by year-end.

避免再罷工　波音與工程師暫達合約協議

（法新社紐約十四日電）為避免重蹈長達兩個月的機械師罷工的覆轍，美國航空製造業巨人波音公司今天和加入工會的工程師，達成暫時的工作合約協議。

波音公司與代表公司二萬一千名工程師與機械師的航空專業工程技術人員工會（SPEEA），分別在不同的聲明中表示，他們已經完成一份合約期四年的「暫時性協議」。

雙方從十月二十九日開始協商，但一直無法就薪資、津貼和雇用條件達成協議，工會昨天提出不排除罷工的可能性。

兩份薪資合約都將在十二月一日到期，一份和一萬四千名工程師有關，另一份牽涉到七千名機械師。

雙方表示，暫時性的協議細節必須要等到談判代表今天晚上把協議內容告訴所有的成員後，才能透露。

「國際機械師與航空太空工人協會」說，在聯邦政府調停下進行談判後，百分之七十四的工會成員贊成恢復工作。

國際機械師與航空太空工人協會發表聲明說：「我們工會達到了少數美國人才有的東西｜確保未來四年內經濟穩定和收益。」

聲明說：「它同時承認有必要以有遠見的眼光採取行動，以保護下一代航太工業的工作機會。」

工會說，醫療保險福利在二零一二年之前將確保不變。

一些分析家估計，這次罷工每天約讓公司損失一億美元，並讓下一代夢幻七八七型客機交貨期有可能延後。

「國際機械師與航太工人協會」（IAM）發言人拉金告訴「法新社」，「雙方對立態勢趨於強硬，此刻沒有安排新談判。」

波音發言人希利證實說：「我們隨時可以會商，但目前沒有安排。」

由於不滿已協商三年的勞資合約久久談不攏，占波音總人力一成六、約兩萬七千名機械師六日發動大罷工。

航空產業分析師指出，罷工行動已迫使波音飛機生產停擺，且可能導致這家美國航空巨擘每日損失超過一億美元。

Boeing strike in fifth day; no talks scheduled

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The machinists union strike against Boeing entered a fifth day Wednesday with no sign of a resumption of contract talks on the horizon, both sides said.

"It is going strong. There are no new talks scheduled at this time," Frank Larkin, spokesman for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) told AFP.

"We are available to meet but there is no meeting scheduled," Boeing spokesman Tim Healy confirmed.

Boeing's 27,000 machinists, who represent 16 percent of the company's workforce, went on strike Saturday after the collapse of three-year contract talks.

The strike has forced Boeing to halt aircraft production and could cost the US aerospace giant more than 100 million dollars per day, analysts say.

Because of the company's geared-up production, this strike will have a "more severe impact" if it lasts as long as the last strike at Boeing, a month-long walkout in 2005, Boeing's chief financial officer James Bell said in a teleconference with analysts.

That 2005 strike had cost the aerospace giant 300 million dollars.

Healy said it was "too soon" to say what impact the strike will have on the launch of the company's new 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which has been delayed more than a year due to technical and supply problems.

"At this point, we are still on track to (first) flight in the first quarter" of 2009, the spokesman told AFP.

"Obviously, if the strike goes on, that's going to have an impact on that schedule."

The first 787 deliveries are scheduled in the 2009 third quarter.

"Clearly we do not have a lot of margin in our current delivery estimate," CFO Bell said.

  　波音與負責製造零件與組裝機體的兩萬七千名技工薪資合約即將到期，過去一個月，勞資針對新約進行談判，工會認為波音新客機訂單創紀錄，獲利豐厚，九月三日拒絕了資方在八月廿八日提出的加薪一一％的三年新約。之後，聯邦官員介入協調兩日，依舊無法達成協議，工會五日投票決議展開罷工。
