FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - BAE Systems, through its Ground Systems line of business, and teammate Navistar International Corporation today unveiled a fully-operational system the team will use to compete for Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program. JLTV is the U.S. multi-service initiative for fielding a family of future light tactical vehicles.

"Our approach to the JLTV program is focused on the user," said Matt Riddle, vice president of Wheeled Vehicles at BAE Systems. "The BAE Systems Ground Systems-Navistar JLTV team has taken a user-centric design approach that provides the foundation for a future family of vehicles that will meet the Joint Services' light tactical vehicle requirements for decades to come."

The BAE Systems Ground Systems-Navistar JLTV design optimizes what's referred to as the "iron triangle" - payload, protection and performance - to meet all requirements of the JLTV program. The 16,000-pound vehicle incorporates lessons learned from the U.S. Department of Defense's Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program and features the latest in lightweight, advanced armor and a v-shaped hull design to provide unmatched crew protection.  The vehicle will out-perform existing tactical systems by providing exportable power that exceeds JLTV requirements and existing MRAP capabilities. Its modular design maximizes commonality across JLTV variants and enables the seamless integration of future technologies.

BAE Systems Ground Systems and Navistar announced their collaboration in October 2007 to take advantage of combined capabilities that most effectively support the JLTV program.

"BAE Systems' proven combat vehicle design excellence combined with Navistar's world class supply chain management, logistics and production capabilities provides unmatched JLTV design, production and support capability from concept to combat," said Archie Massicotte, president of Navistar Defense, an affiliate of Navistar International Corporation.

The teaming arrangement builds off the two company's current leadership in armored and tactical vehicle development and support, which includes the team working together for the benefit of the joint U.S customer on programs like MRAP. Combined, the BAE Systems Ground Systems-Navistar team maximizes JLTV program value through proven capabilities, lean manufacturing and extensive worldwide logistics support.

On average, Navistar produces more than 100,000 vehicles per year and produced more than a half-million engines in 2007 while BAE Systems Ground Systems has successfully produced and supported nearly 100,000 combat and tactical vehicles - making them one of the leading producers.

The JLTV will be on display in booth number 2411 during the AUSA Winter Symposium at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Lockheed Martin Unveils Second Operational Joint Light Tactical Vehicle Prototype At AUSA Winter

Owwego, NY, February 27th, 2008 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] today unveiled its second operational Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) prototype at the Association of the United States Army Winter Show in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Lockheed Martin's first prototype has completed approximately 5,000 miles of on- and off-road testing.

"Introducing our second operational prototype demonstrates that we are committed to proposing and delivering a low-risk, affordable family of vehicles for JLTV," said Louis DeSantis, vice president and general manager of Ground Vehicle Systems at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego.  "We've been performing as if on contract from the outset and conducting extensive testing with our solution to reduce risk for the government."

In contrast to Lockheed Martin's first prototype, the Combat Tactical Vehicle Payload Category B, which was designed as an infantry carrier, the new The Utility Vehicle Light (UVL) Payload Category C prototype is designed with a focus on payload.  The variant is used to carry personnel, general cargo and ammunition, or can be configured to carry an S250 shelter.  When the shelter is removed, the UVL can be used as a utility or prime mover vehicle.

The UVL also demonstrates the commonality of the Lockheed Martin JLTV family of vehicles. With identical cabs, chassis and drivetrains, the common architecture across variants promotes reduced cost, increased reliability and mission flexibility.

英軍為駐伊勇士步兵戰車裝配新一代裝甲組件

　　據英國《簡氏防務週刊》2008年3月12日刊報導 近日，英國陸軍已經成功為英國駐伊拉克服役的BAE系統公司“勇士”(Warrior)步兵戰車(IFV)量身設計了一套新一代裝甲元件，該元件將用於取代“勇士”步兵戰車第一代被動裝甲組件。目前，新一代裝甲元件已經開始在伊拉克展開實車裝配工作。

　　“勇士”步兵戰車新一代裝甲元件屬於一種由被動裝甲和爆炸反應裝甲組成的混合裝甲元件，共有兩種組合，可以分別裝備到車輛的前面和側面部分，能夠為“勇士”步兵戰車提供全方位的防護。

　　此前，BAE系統公司地面系統分部曾將新一代裝甲元件安裝在部署阿富汗和伊拉克地區的FV432 MK3裝甲升級型“鬥牛犬”(Bulldog)裝甲人員輸送車上進行野外測試，測試結果十分令人滿意。據悉，新一代裝甲組件結合“格柵”裝甲以後將取得更好的防護效果。 (北方科技資訊研究所 仲崇慧)

以色列準備將國產反坦克導彈裝在BMP-2戰車上

　　據英國《簡氏導彈與火箭彈》2008年4月刊報導 以色列航空工業公司MBT空間與導彈分部披露了將“拉哈特”鐳射尋的反坦克(Laser Homing Anti-Tank，LAHAT)導彈集成於俄羅斯BMP-2步兵戰車的研究方案。該研究方案是於2006年或2007年初應潛在用戶的需求而啟動的，而該公司拒絕透露具體的潛在用戶。

Northrop, Oshkosh Unveil 2nd JLTV Prototype

Northrop Grumman and Oshkosh have finished the second prototype of a vehicle they will enter in the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) competition to build a next-generation Humvee for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.

The so-called category B vehicle, kept quietly under a tent during the Association of the U.S. Army's annual winter convention in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was viewed by the Army's vice chief of staff, Gen. Richard Cody, as well as Maj. Gen. Mike Lanears and Gen. Benjamin Griffin, according to Northrop and Oshkosh officials.

The vehicle featured a bolt-on armor kit, a new type of drive-train suspension, an Allison transmission and a CAT-C7 engine, said Ken Juergens, Oshkosh's JLTV program director. The program aims to introduce the JLTV into service in 2012, but the Army is hoping to move that date up, said Lanears, who runs the service's Tank and Automotive Command (TACOM), which will hold the JLTV competition.

Northrop and Oshkosh officials declined to say much about the prototype, citing the competition for which they are now drafting their proposal to submit to TACOM. They did say they had spent more than $15 million on their JLTVs. "We are working right now on three prototypes, one of each of the classes," said Joe Taylor, vice president of land systems for Northrop Grumman, who is a retired major general. "That will be our test-bed vehicles during TD [technical demonstration] and SDD [system design and development] phases."

Building three prototypes will allow the Northrop-Oshkosh team to make changes and adjustments to their vehicles or replace key parts such as sensors after they provide a prototype to the Army.

The Northrop-Oshkosh vehicle is built to accommodate a lightweight active protection system for thin-skinned vehicles.

"We have designed it to use any APS [active protection] system out there; part of the design is to be able to accept any of them," Taylor said.

Northrop and Oshkosh engineers say their vehicle can meet the JLTV's requirement for exportable power.

"We will use an innovative power technology that will lend itself to a vehicle that will be in the service for more than three decades," Taylor said.

The vehicle's electronic systems will be provided by Northrop, maker of the Blue Force Tracking units in thousands of Army vehicles, he said.

Oshkosh and Northrop are well-suited to build a 7-ton JLTV, Juergens said, in part because the program calls for a vehicle at least 3 to 4 tons heavier than the current Humvee, and Oshkosh has experience in building vehicles at heavier weights.

Oshkosh makes the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck, a 19-ton logistics and equipment tactical truck; and the Marine Corps Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement, a 13-ton medium-weight vehicle.

美國展示未來軍用聯合輕型戰術車專案樣車

據英國《簡氏防務週刊》2008年3月5日報導 以美國洛克希德•馬丁公司為主的聯合開發團隊和英國BAE系統公司於2008年2月27日在美國佛羅里達州勞德代爾堡市舉辦的美國陸軍協會上展出了為美國陸軍/海軍陸戰隊聯合輕型戰術車（JLTV）專案開發的兩種新型車的樣車。JLTV專案旨在完成包括6種不同車型的車族，該車族共用駕駛室、底盤和傳動系統。

美國軍方預計在2008年6月底授予數家製造商合同，用於設計和製造JLTV樣車。參與競標的公司將要交付3種車型、拖車和綜合指揮控制元件，還包括一個用於導彈測試的車體。

俄軍今年將裝備30輛新型BMD-4空降戰車

　　東方網2月15日消息：據俄塔社報導，俄羅斯空降兵司令瓦列裏•葉甫圖霍維奇中將2月8日宣佈，俄空降兵部隊今年將裝備大約30輛新型的BMD-4型空降戰車。

　　葉甫圖霍維奇中將指出，俄軍現在僅裝備有一個營的BMD-4型戰車。而今年新列裝的30輛新車將足以再裝備一個營的空降兵。

　　與此同時，俄目前還在研製BMD-4戰車的改進型號--BMD-4M。後者預計將在今後幾年內裝備部隊。俄空降兵司令介紹稱，BMD-4M將使用全新研製的底盤，並換裝更為完備的武器和數位化指揮系統。據悉，BMD-4M裝備的數位化指揮系統將可以把對目標的摧毀概率提升至0.95-0.97。葉甫圖霍維奇中將強調說：“事實上，BMD-4M在首次射擊中便可摧毀目標。”

　　BMD-4M戰車由三人操控(分別是車長、射擊守兼操作手、駕駛員)，可運送5名空降兵。

　　俄空降兵司令指出，BMD-4M的出現將會“不可避免地導致部隊作戰戰術的改變，顯著提高他們的作戰效能和機動性。”

　　BMD-4M戰車的生產工作將由庫爾幹車輛製造廠、伏爾加格勒拖拉機廠和其他多家企業共同承擔。

　　BMD-4“瓜園”型空降戰車於2005年開始裝備俄羅斯空降兵部隊，可獨立或與空降兵裝備的其他裝甲車輛和武器系統共同執行進攻與防禦作戰行動。

　　BMD-4的主要武器為1門100毫米火炮(裝備有自動裝彈機，可發射制導、非制導彈藥)和一門2A42型30毫米自動機關炮。輔助武器為1具AGS-17型30毫米榴彈發射器和1挺PKT型7.62毫米機槍。此外，其還配備有9M113“競賽”型和“套索”型反坦克導彈、AG-17“火焰”榴彈發射器等。

　　該車裝備有現代化的火控系統、嵌入式晝夜炮長瞄準鏡、全景式車長顯示器和數位電腦。BMD-4可以在5500米的距離內攻擊移動或靜止的裝甲目標，在7000米的距離內攻擊暴露在掩體和戰壕外的步兵，在4000米的距離內攻擊直升機，也可以在行進間開火。其陸上最大速度70千米/小時，水中最大速度10千米/小時。

　　另外，BMD-4戰車的全重只有13.6噸，機動性強，便於航空運輸。與一般的坦克和裝甲車不同，它可以通過任何一種軍用運輸機運載，並可實施人車同時空降。(北斗)

T-80“飛行”坦克之父在聖彼得堡去逝

俄新網RUSNEWS.CN莫斯科2月8日電 研制出俄羅斯近30年來最優秀科研成果之一--T-80"飛行"坦克的設計者、特種設備制造廠總設計師尼古拉·波波夫5日在聖彼得堡與世長辭。據《俄羅斯報》報道，將燃氣渦輪發動機應用于地面軍事設備的嘗試從上個世紀中期就已經開始。但只有基洛夫生產聯合體的運輸機械廠在波波夫的領導下研制成功了一種將航空噴氣發動機與45噸重坦克結合在一起的新型裝備，把不可能變為事實。帶有燃氣渦輪發動機的T-80坦克在技術特點上非常完美，研制成功後立即採取了保密工作，並裝備西面集團軍。當幾千輛T-80坦克組成的坦克群出現在北約成員國邊境的時候，北約真的慌了起來。該坦克的任何部分的防護能力都相當于一米左右厚的均質裝甲。這種坦克具有額外的強大防御能力，時速達到70公里/小時。根據西方分析人士計算，裝備T-80坦克的部隊可以毫不費力的攻破任何防線，並在三天時間內從俄羅斯自行抵達英吉利海峽。報道指出，美國人當時急急忙忙的加速研制本國的燃氣輪機坦克--美國M1"艾布拉姆斯"坦克，但最終在各個技術性能上都趕不上波波夫的T-80坦克。改進的T-80Y型坦克首次公開展出是在90年代初在阿聯酋首都阿布扎比的武器裝備展覽會上。該坦克武器不但裝備和防護能力卓越，而且45噸重的T-80從跳板飛出後跳到14米之外的地點，並非常平穩著陸繼續前進，這震驚了所有的人。美國坦克也試圖模仿T-80的這一空中跳動作，但一頭栽倒在地，傳動裝置整個被摔的七零八落。從那以後，T-80Y坦克被命名為"飛行坦克"，也成為阿布扎比武器展的象征。這位偉大的設計師、社會主義勞動英雄、列寧獎和國家多項大獎的獲得者不但給後人留下了一個坦克大家庭，而且還參與了聞名于世的"基洛夫人"拖拉機研制工作。

阿聯酋陸軍決定購買芬蘭8X8模組化裝甲車

　　英國《簡氏防務工業》2008年2月刊報導 近日，芬蘭派特裏亞(Patria)公司宣佈，阿聯酋(UAE)陸軍已經決定選擇採購該公司生產的8×8模組化裝甲車(AMV)。但並沒有具體透漏此次阿聯酋8×8模組化裝甲車採購合同的具體詳細內容，包括採購總數量和採購總價值目前都尚不明確。據簡氏方面分析，可以確定的是阿聯酋陸軍裝備8×8模組化裝甲車以後，將取代現役的近300輛BMP-3型步兵戰車。

　　據分析，在未來的幾年內芬蘭派特裏亞公司生產的8×8模組化裝甲車及其NEMO 120毫米迫擊炮系統都將得到大幅發展，其採購數量還會不斷的攀升。據芬蘭派特裏亞公司表示，目前該公司的8×8模組化裝甲車採購數量已經達到1200多輛。截至目前，已有200輛8×8模組化裝甲車被交付並裝備採購國家。此外，目前採購的8×8模組化裝甲車的國家除了芬蘭本國和阿聯酋以外，還擴展到克羅地亞、波蘭、斯洛文尼亞和南非等地區。
