英文逗號 「 , 」

逗號英文：Comma，是英文書寫中常用的標點符號，但在使用上和中文的逗號是有差別的。

1、英文逗號等同於中文頓號。

分隔三個以上的相同詞性的單字、片語和句子，最後一項列舉必須以“and”來代替逗號。

例： The album genres included rock, jazz, country, and classical.

2、連接兩個子句。

使用對等連接詞 (for, and, nor, but, or, yet and so) 連接兩個句子，在對等連接詞前要打逗號，再接續對等連接詞後的子句

例： They liked the house, but they didn’t have enough money to buy it.

3、連接從屬子句與主要子句。

出現如 because, before, although, however 等等的從屬連接詞，則需要用逗號來分隔句子，以利越讀者閱讀。

例： Because she stayed up late last night, she dozed off in class this morning.

4、直接引用某段文字。

引用他人言論或某段文字，必須用逗號隔開，並且用引號標註引用的內容。

例： My mom said to me, “Never put off till tomorrow what may be done today.”

5、補述用法中，當關係代名詞與形容詞子句的主詞相同，可前後使用逗號。

例： His father, working at Google, is busy every day.

6、同位語前後都要打逗號

例： My friend, Mary, will go with me.

7、時間、住址、身份或三位數以上的數字要打逗號

例：
On December 24, 1999, Melisa Wong left for New York.
She lives in Taipei, Taiwan.
Julia Lin, MD, will give a speech tomorrow.

英文逗號是文章中必定會出現的標點符號，用法非常多元，並且與文章解讀有著重大關係，和中文中的逗號使用方式又有差異，是需要好好了解及善用的。
