[否定副詞], [否定副詞片語] 或  [否定副詞子句] 置於句首時,之後的主要子句要採問句式倒裝句構.


常見[否定副詞]: 


Hardly ;  scarcely ; little ; never ; seldom ; rarely     


常見[否定副詞片語]: 


 by no means (絕不)  ;  on no account  ;  under no circumstances    ; in no way    ; 


 in no situation


常見[否定副詞子句]: 


only if (只有)  ;  only when (只有當)  ;  not until (直到...才) 引導的副詞子句.


上述這些單字,片語,子句在句首出現時,主要子句要使用倒裝句構.


例:


Only if the airline company offsets the inconvenience of a late arrival at our destination with a refund will I be satisfied.


Rarely does Brian tell a joke.


By no means will I mention my private life.


Not until I talked to Ned did I know he was homesick.

No sooner+ had + S + PP + than + S + 過去式動詞 

=Hardly+ had + S + PP + when + S + 過去式動詞 

=Scarecely+ had + S + PP + before + S + 過去式動詞 

=As soon as + S + 過去式動詞 , S + 過去式動詞

=Upon/On + 動名詞 , S + 過去式動詞 

例:

No sooner had I seen him than I ran away.

=Hardly had I seen him when I ran away.

=Scarecely had I saw him before I ran away.

=As soon as I saw him, I ran away.

=Upon seeing him, I ran away.

  1. 幾乎不，幾乎沒有

    I can scarcely hear you . 我幾乎聽不見你講話。

  2. 決不

    He can scarcely have said that . 他決不會說這種話的。

  3. 不很；大概不
