Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Members,

While we are happily eating turkey and celebrating Thanksgiving, we shall always remember its history. What has happened in our life exists for reasons. Showing our appreciation to the universe is truly a noble deed. The more we realize how much the nature and our loved ones have sacrificed for us, the better souls we will be!

Love always,

Camilla

 Happy Teacher's Day!!!

There are might be many ways for us to express our immense gratitude and respect to our dearest teachers every day, especially on this special day. Here is some information for you to read so that we have a better understanding of its origin. Let's enjoy our reading while celebrating!

Love,

Camilla with tons of hugs and kisses for her dearest teachers from her very young till now

Teachers' Day TaiWan the Republic of China uses this day to honor teachers' virtues, struggles, and contribution not only to their own students but also to society in general. People often make use of the day to express their gratitude to their teachers, such as paying them a visit or sending them a card. This date was chosen to commemorate the birth of Confucius, believed to be the model master educator in ancient China. In 1939, the Ministry of Education established the national holiday as August 27, the attributed birthday of Confucius.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In many countries, 'Teachers' Days' are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers; World Teachers' Day is celebrated across the world on October 5. Ever since the importance of teachers has been recognized by UNESCO, by adopting the “Recommendation concerning the status of teachers”, World Teachers' Day has been celebrated annually.[1] This includes celebrations to honor the teachers for their special contribution in a particular field area or the community in general.

Taiwan (Republic of China)September 28

In 1952, the Executive Yuan changed it to September, stating that it was calculated to be the precise date in the Gregorian calendar. The festival celebration occurs in the temples of Confucius around the island, known as the "Grand Ceremony Dedicated to Confucius" (祭孔大典). The ceremony begins at 6 AM with drum beats. 54 musicians dress in robes with blue belts, 36 (or 64) dancers dress in yellow with green belts. They are led by Confucius's chief descendant (currently Kung Tsui-chang) and followed by ceremonial officers. Three animals—the cow, the goat, and the pig—are sacrificed. The hairs plucked from these sacrificed animals are called the Hairs of Wisdom. In addition, local education institutes and civil offices award certain teachers for their excellence and positive influence.

Enjoying the Wind and Moon Together -- Mid-Autumn Festival

The clear and radiant moon has been a subject of Chinese poetry and song since ancient times. And the moonlight of Mid-Autumn Festival brings particular warmth and ease to the hearts of the people of China. This festival is said to have originated from the ancient ceremony of Sacrificing to the Moon Goddess. When that ceremony was later combined with the Legend of Eating Mooncakes, Mid-Autumn Festival grew in the popular consciousness to become the major occasion that it is today.

"When the moon is full, mankind is one" -- In China, the full moon has always represented the gatherings of friends and family. Thus, Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunions. On this night, families will go together to scenic spots and parks for moon appreciation parties, eating mooncakes and pomeloes in the cool night air and praying for a safe year. This festival has been made even more lively by the three legends of Chang-O Flees to the Moon, Wu Kang Chops Down the Cassia Tree, and the Jade Rabbit Grinds Medicine.

Since Mid-Autumn Festival coincides with the fall harvest, the occasion is also celebrated in Taiwan by making offerings to the Earth God (Tu-ti Gong) in hope that he will make the next year's harvest even more bountiful.
