* The walls take the most portions in the picture, which symbolizes the inner feeling of the gentlemen and make the reader sympathize his situation.

  Republic of China

◎republic: A state in which power is held by the people and their elected representatives and that has a president rather than a monarch.

The history of republic of China(Taiwanà the islanders) and People’s Republic of China(the mainlandà the mainlanders)

Kira-Kira discusses the identity which people in Taiwan might be able to sympathize.

◎sympathy: A state of being simultaneously affected with the same feelings of other.

The belief of the country unites the different voices to form an organized nation. It is crucial for the people to have the same and strong belief.

{Chinese Taiwanese, Taiwanese Taiwanese, Vietnamese Taiwanese...}citizens of Republic of China  {Chinese American, Japanese American, English American, African American...}American citizens

 The description of eyes reveals the issue of race and links to the topic of the searching the identity.

Please think twice or more before criticizing.

◎migrant: To move from one country of place to another.

Every paragraph carries messages and expects the readers to read between the lines.

Through describing the mother’s living habits, the Japanese culture oozes.

  The reason why the girls do not understand their mother’s thinking is probably because they are born and educated in states. People are where they grow up and also what they are educated.

◎attic: A space or room inside the roof of a building, often used for storing things.

corn: A small, painful area of thickened skin on the foot, caused by pressure.

He would not trade a million good old days for the days he spends with us.

Novel: The Tale of Desperaux by Kate Dicamilo

            Illustrated by Timothy Basil Ering

* The way we hold books shows how much we care about the paper and how considerate we are.

 sibling: A brother or sister; A person related to someone having the same parents or having one parent in common.

* The way Desperaux reads the words also shows an ability and attitude to slow down the life and to feel the world in a sensitive form.

* Children’s literature is like the character of Desperaux to make people spend time on appreciating the beauty of our surroundings.

The Studio will hold a summer camp in TaiTung. The Cost is NT 9,500 per student, including all the tickets, insurance and materials. If parents wish to join the camp, the cost is NT 7,500 per adult. 卡密拉兒童文學苑工作室將前往台東舉辦兒童文學夏令營,營隊費用每人新台幣9,500元整,含食宿、回程機票、車資、保險與教材。若家長欲參與營隊則每位新台幣7,500元整。

The Studio will hold a summer camp in TaiTung. The Cost is NT 9,500 per student, including all the tickets, insurance and materials. If parents wish to join the camp, the cost is NT 7,500 per adult. 卡密拉兒童文學苑工作室將前往台東舉辦兒童文學夏令營,營隊費用每人新台幣9,500元整,含食宿、回程機票、車資、保險與教材。若家長欲參與營隊則每位新台幣7,500元整。
