四十年前 (1967) 在成功嶺受預官剴練 , 按例行慣例 , 每位學生要簽名效忠領袖蔣總統 . 大家都簽了唯有班上的 [ 嚴XX ] 不簽 , 拒簽 .

這個代誌當時是非比尋常的大條 . 班長勸 , 嚴不簽 . 排長勸 , 嚴不簽 . 連長勸 , 嚴不簽 . 營長勸 , 嚴不簽 . 最後勞動師長派黑色喬車接到師部 , 師長勸 , 嚴還是不簽 .

“因為我心中有領袖 , 但你們都是行事做作 , ”故不簽 " !

大學畢業前 , 嚴拿不到預官考試淮考証 , 因為嚴思想成績 0 分 . 大家幫他出主意 - 上書國防部 - 長蔣經國 .

考試前夕有專人開車送上准考証 .

嚴最後考上預官 , 而且是當輔導長 . 且以後 , 還當上半年的三民主義研究社社長 .

四十年後他聽說在台灣很多蔣公銅像被阿扁拆了 , 而且流落街頭 . 他興起收養的念頭 , 以下是我們對話 , 慱君一笑 !

I saw the news that most Statues of President Chiang Kai-Shek [蔣總統銅像] will be removed and thrown away soon. If you happen to know any of such statue, please let me know. I would like to get some and ship to USA to keep .

I know you owed CKS respect over 35 years ago . I am also looking for the place to store the statues in Southern California; Because my Chinese/music School is not my own property. I believe KMT might help in this regard. Right now, KMT has no office and no school in Los Angeles which can store the statues of CKS.

I have a friend - Mr. Hsu having several of big warehouses , I will ask for help because we can temporarily store into his big warehouse in Southern California .He is also good at import /export and transportation of the products.

As for your view of "owed CKS respect over 35 years ago" in your email, Chih, let me share with you that I respected CKS 35 years ago, and so 35 years after. What I objected 35 years ago was the formality of signing names in Chen-Gon-Lin [成功嶺] to show our royalty. I did not believe that it was right to do the Sign-Name-Royalty Movement [效忠領袖蔣總統] by all of the students in Chen-Gon-Lin [成功嶺]. I do not regret what I did 35 years ago. Today, I still believe what I did at that time was right, a right way to show my respect and to give advice to President CKS by not signing my name. This is what Confucious [孔子說] and Munfucious [孟子說] taught us, right?

On the other hand, I did not feel right either that Taiwan planed to abandon all President CKS's statues. I feel that it is totally wrong. No mater what, President CKS and CJG [蔣經國] had great contribution to Taiwan. So I would like to save some abandoned President CKS statues and to bring to USA to keep. If you know where are some of the abandoned statues, I will arrange to collect.
