在西洋流行音樂史上，曾經有過許多令人難忘的二重唱團體，如果以創作的能力與作品的素質來說，相信大家都會公認，由保羅賽門（Paul Simon）和亞特葛芬科（Art Garfunkel）共同組成、曾經在六○年代紅極一時的「賽門與葛芬科」，無疑是其中最傑出的一對。

儘管他們在成名之後合作的時間只持續了短短的五年，也只留下了六張專輯（不包括精選集在內），但是卻獲得了極高的評價，至今依然讓人難以忘懷。

我們都知道，在流行音樂界，任何一個藝人或是團體，若是想要出人頭地，就必須在一片五花八門的樂聲中，創立出獨特而引人入勝的風格，才能夠有成功的希望。賽門與葛芬科不但深切的瞭解這一點，同時又把成功建立在追求自己的音樂理想和抱負中，因此更顯得分外的可貴。

賽門與葛芬科所出版的每一張專輯，都極為暢銷，而在他們的單曲之中，「The Sounds of Silence」、「Mrs. Robinson」以及「Bridge Over Troubled Water」不但是他們的代表作，更堪稱流行音樂史上經典中的經典。他們的所有專輯，包括時常被遺漏掉的第一張專輯Wednesday Morning 3 A.M.」，最起碼都是金唱片，而最後一張的「Bridge Over Troubled Water」更創下了連續十週冠軍、五白金的輝煌紀錄，甚至直到現在都還有著穩定的銷售數字。
