PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Two women were attacked by a great white shark Wednesday as they were kayaking off Plymouth, CBS Boston reported.

A bystander on shore called for help after spotting the women in the water and screaming for help.

The Plymouth harbormaster responded and pulled the women into the boat. They were not hurt.

The kayak had a very large bite in it, and experts confirmed a great white shark was responsible.

"It came up from underneath my best friend's boat and it breached out of the water, grabbed onto the boat and flipped us both over," Ida Parker told CBS Boston.

She and Kirsten Orr, both in their mid-20s and Plymouth residents, had gone out to watch seals but were pretty close to shore when they were surprised by the shark.

Orr said she panicked.

"I started thrashing around and climbed back in my kayak and Ida was, 'Calm down,'" Orr said.

The kayak was sent to the Massachusetts Environmental Police for examination.

Last week, swimmers were ordered out of the water at a beach in nearby Duxbury after a 12- to 15-foot shark was spotted.
