Pandora

I spend my quiet hours in solitude
walking the halls of my inner mind
to find and remove emotions where you linger.
And in my deepest sanctuary
I weep for strength to let go,
reeling still that a love so deep, so strong, so true
could fail so quickly and be lost so completely
until I realize that you, my Pandora,
were the one who broke our perfect trust,
and all the lies and loves of my past
that made me but no longer define me
would never challenge the love I found for you
had you but trusted better
and left the boxes unopened,
the drawers closed...
that with time brief from our beginning
they would have been cast out or emptied
to make fully open the room of my heart and soul
to be filled with our time and our love and our letters.

The Present Moment

Once upon and yet to come
between twilight's last caress
and dawn's first kiss
a full moon silver bright
lights the darkness with shimmering luminescence,
the unicorns graze the field
and fairies dance joyfully on the warm summer breeze.
The night is alive and overflowing.
Dreams run wild and pixies give chase,
while the creatures of lore gather round a magic pool,
where the tears of goddesses collect,
so all that's fantastic may drink in peace.
I chanced here still believing
unbroken by a world denying,
feeling more in touch with creatures of shadow
and the wild spirits banished.

Return

From distant time yesterday
wrapped warm in a strong memory
returned unexpectedly
full of flesh and alive
sweet smell of new possibility
and old comfort and old wounds
with scars only for your lips
and what reckless abandon
do we approach with such caution
that in our youth we lost
but did not forget, did no let go
and with us always carry a connection
that finds a time so right ...
and wrong and unfitting for the world
as we must know it ...
and not reckless we steadily walk to abandon.
