A Hakka Folk song and a Poet’s Enlightenment
Once again were cheated, by chance, I read a Hakka folk song.
(adopted from the Bag Monk)
As if it’s a special enlightenment, which I needed and found.
The Folk Song:
I hand-transplant green seedlings fully in the field.
When I bow to earth, I can see the sky in the water.
Only if roots are cleaned the rice can grow well.
While I move backward, actually I move forward.
The Enlightenment:
As long as seedlings are planted fully in all the fields,
Why should I care whether I’ll be a loser or winner?
Since cleanness can cultivate wisdom and wellness,
I can see the sky either looking downward or upward.
