maya&raju wrote a nice article about Lyon. 法鄉之旅 2000夏(6) In responding to her article, I wrote this.
Lyon is one of the best places I have been, especially not as a international tourist but as a local visitor.
Lyon should be considered the best kept secret of France. Here is some of
my personal experience. Lyon was another romantic city that my wife and I spent whole days by foot. The best part is in the old town. Walking in the river bank, or in the Rue August, or even better if you can check out "the market of the creation", "craft market" on Sunday morning, will give you very different experience. It is less than one hour from our R&D office, and one of my regular stops in Europe. It is a city with lots of history and culture.
Personally, I would consider it the culinary capital of France.
Yes, better than Paris. Sometime, even spending a night before my flight out of France is a nice treat for me. You can
find different kinds of food there. The famous ones are like "Chez
Hugon", "la Meuniere", while the traditional cooking style are
presented, and restaurants like "Abbaye de Collonges, where the
nouvelle cuisine is served. There are other good foods too, like the
rosette, internal organs, andouillette sausages and many other nice
things including salami, guenelles and nice deserts.
In Lyon, you can also find many historic sites. Near the river and the
hill, you can see sites like the Gallo-Roman
Amphitheater, in the "Presquile", you can see Place Bellecour and
many exquisite churches. I first fall in love with the Renaissance
architecture style in the churches. In my last visit, my co-worker too
me to the recently discoverd site that is over 2000 years old site.

里昂離B住的日內瓦湖區不到二個小時的車程,有時心血來潮會去里昂看表演、展覧或逛街過週末.它不算是個觀光城,週末或暑期七、八月间,旅舘常有優惠折價吸引非商務人員填充空檔.近年來里昂觀光局http://www.lyon.fr/vdl/sections/en/ 更倾全力拉攏遊客,喧傳與组合很優的package供旅人選擇。 它的"吃"之前略有陳述...
里昂的好,就好在它是個生活的城市,不虚華且深具內容. 不擁擠不跟潮流,旅人可以很從容又隨心所欲去品味它的內層脈動與平實之美. B與伴前往,總是因它有特別的表演或展覽節目,之外會精選一、两家好餐廳滿足口腹. 剩餘的空檔就逛逛精品店或個性商店......漫步享受另一種與瑞士不同風挌的城市生活。
下面例舉B的一些里昂最愛,或許有機會你也該去試試巴黎之外的真實法国風情？
Place des terreaux 緊旁即是B喜歡的里昂美術舘Palais Saint-Pierre =Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon

Croix-Rousse區步道街景
Thêatre Romain羅馬劇場遺蹟-現在是 Fourviere户外劇場,上次看Alvin Ailey-American Dance Theater現代舞就在此地舉行. 能想像在山崗上夏日清涼的夜晚,欣賞人形舞肌之美的震歎？！
