United Nations: bees, butterflies, reduced threat of global crop
2016-02-26 22:22 Central Kuala Lumpur 26th reports
United Nations intergovernmental science policy platform for biodiversity and ecosystem services (IPBES) said today, crucial for crop pollination by large bees, butterflies and other species are facing extinction threat, that posed a threat to major crops and biodiversity around the world.
According to IPBES assessment: "Northwest Europe and North America many wild bees and butterflies is a local and regional scale, a significant reduction in diversity is also shrinking. 」
Evaluation report pointed out that the rest of the world also found that reducing the number of pollinators. Pollinators also include other large insects, bats, birds, and other animals.
Question for policy makers is a major factor why scientists are still not sure.
The world's first such assessment pointed out that possible causes include habitat loss, pesticides, pollution, invasive species, pathogens and climate change, as well as farms switched to single crops, impeded biological diversity.
