Ambassador Jason Yuan has served as a representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the United States since 2008. He was the Director General of the Taipei Economi and Cultural Office (TECO) in Los Angeles for five years from 1998 to 2003. In 1996, he was appointed as the Taiwan Ambassador to Panama and served for two years.

Ambassador Yuan received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Park University in Missouri in 2010 and graduated from Southeastern University with a Master's Degree in Business and Public Administration in 1977. He received his B.A. from the Chinese Naval Academy in the Republic of China in 1963.
